Our story
Music Makers Academy was founded in 2022 to offer children and teenagers in Perth music lessons that would inspire them to create music.
We have taught over 50 students, many of whom now have a life-long passion for playing their instruments, performing, composing pieces or creating original arrangements of their favourite songs.
When a student starts expressing themselves by creating their own music, this is when we feel we’ve done our job.
Hi, I’m Eliza, founder of Music Makers Academy.
I remember the first time I wrote my first piece of music. I was around fourteen years old. The piece itself was nothing extraordinary, but it was an extraordinary moment in my musical journey: I discovered I could express myself using the language and artform of music.
Creating music and finding one’s own voice is something I am truly passionate about, because it has changed my life. When you write music, you come to the realisation that you have something to communicate in a way that is uniquely you. It helps you realise that you have something special to offer to the world.
This is the kind of realisation I want all students at Music Makers Academy to make: that they can use music in a creative way to express themselves, find their voice, and realise that they, too, have a unique gift they can share.
