Key Responsibilities

  • providing lessons 1:1 with a student (ages range from 4-adults) at our studio in Joondalup

  • marking attendance via online portal

  • attend concerts and academy events

  • prepare students for exams and performances

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have the following:

  • Grade 8 minimum on the relevant instrument

  • Be a recent graduate OR currently studying music at a tertiary institution

  • 3 years of experience tutoring minimum

  • Be familiar with Vibrant Music Teaching lesson plans

  • Be familiar with Tales of a Musical Journey method books

Employment type, hours and rates

This role is casual.

For piano: TBC depending on student numbers and availability. We will work with you to create shifts that suit your schedule.

Rates are variable depending on your experience and qualifications. We pay super and also pay you for trainings.

Video Instructions

You are required to create a 3-5 minute video in which you:

describe your teaching experience,

explain why you want to work for Music Makers Academy, and

explain what additional value you bring,

You should present yourself professionally as though you are in an interview.

​Interview

Potential employees will be invited to an interview. The interview will go for approximately half an hour. There are three components of the interview:​

1. Questions

Candidates may be asked follow-up questions based on their responses to the application and questions about their work experience ang goals.

​​2. Teaching example

Interviewees are required to teach a mock lesson. We will send you a short piece prior to the interview which you will have to teach.​

3. Performance

Interviewees are required to perform two contrasting pieces or songs or sections of pieces or songs for up to 5 minutes combined.

Training

All new employees will be required to complete an online training (lump sum payment provided upon completion). Further training may be required depending on your experience.
