Guitar lessons Hillarys

Acoustic? Classical? Electric? Bass? Whatever type of guitar your child wants to play, we can help them achieve their musical dreams!

Your child will absolutely love having lessons with us! Wanna know why?

  • We teach students modern and pop repertoire that will get your child hooked right away

  • We often use backing tracks, making your child feel like they’re playing in a band!

  • Our teachers’ passion for guitar and music is contagious and your child will be inspired at every single lesson

  • Monthly special events create variety and excitement, so that your child is constantly learning new skills without ever getting bored

How it works

Your child’s musical education will be comprised of two components: private instrumental lessons and group classes/special events.

Each month your child will receive 3x 40mins private lessons* with their assigned tutor during which he/she will learn repertoire and technique specific to that instrument.

Once a month there will also be a special event for your child to attend, in place of their private lesson. These special events take the form of practice challenges, concerts, masterclasses and workshops. They are designed to provide variety to the learning experience, bring students together, and help them develop additional musical skills they would not get in their private lesson.

Our guitar teachers

  • Darryn Santana

Darryn has loved playing the guitar ever since he was a teenager. He actually began as a self-taught fingerstyle guitarist, before transitioning to classical guitar during his studies at university. Darryn is a respected and loved guitar teacher who has taught at various private schools around Perth including St Helena College, St Stephen's and St Mark's School.

  • Nathaniel Walker

Nathaniel has been playing guitar for 7 years. Although he originally learned classical, he also enjoys playing a variety of styles, with a particular interest in fingerstyle, and rock. Learning guitar sparked his love for music, and has taken him far into the realms of composition, arranging, and audio production. Nathaniel originally had been playing the ukulele and after seeing his dad play guitar so much, decided to pick it up in primary school, and not a day goes by he doesn’t regret that decision.

 FAQs

  • A key component of progress for a very young child (under 8 years old) is parental involvement (checking that practice is being made, homework completed, and helping the child with learning notes if required).

A good age to start learning would be around 8 years old, when the child has developed some maturity, is able to focus during a lesson and can take responsibility for their own learning.

  • Yes we recommend you get your own instrument before starting lessons as you will need to practice in between each lesson. You will not be required to bring your instrument to your lessons (except for guitar).

We appreciate that buying an instrument is a massive investment and hiring can be a good option to begin with.

We can help you with choosing an instrument.
